Chinese architecture firm C&C Design have created an innovative hotel complex on the Heng River in Huizhou, Guangdong Province in southern China. The Heduli Paddy Hotel, set in a distinctly agricultural setting, an area of undulating green hills and paddy fields, is characterised by its harmonious engagement with its surroundings.  The architects intention was to bridge the perceived gap between ecotourism and luxury accommodation.

The complex covers a total area of 4000m2.  The main hotel buildings houses a variety of farm-themed rooms, over 30 in total. In the adjacent rice fields, 3 single family villas have been constructed. All of the accommodations take advantage of views of the surrounding mountains and the large pond around which the resort pavilions sit.

While the hotel initially reads as a new build, it is in fact a former school. The existing school buildings on site have been repurposed to house ancillary functions of the hotel, and the main hotel building itself has been constructed from portions of the old schoolhouse. Materials used include wood, bamboo and stone, giving a natural and rustic overall feel to the resort. Guests can indulge in local activities, such as fishing, cross-country hiking and visiting nearby agricultural settlements. MHM cant locate a website to assist with hotel bookings (it may be a little early) but will update when possible. Photos have been extracted from Yellowtrace.
