The final touches to Victorian Italianate Perfection
This family house is grand and had been renovated to a very high standard. With a desire to transform a little used space into a cellar and entertaining area, we were brought in to advise on the restraints that the local listing might demand, to provide a design to accommodate those parameters, and lay the ground work for a way forward.
The house has a confident and wonderfully eclectic personality carefully created by the client. The new cellar was to be positioned centrally in the house as a feature and as an additional entertaining area. It therefore, had to reflect the multi-layered richness of the existing interiors. Marble, oak parquetry, smoked oak timber, brass detailing, antiqued mirror and irreverent wallpaper all combined to create the required effect. The layout and design aimed to maximise bottle storage and allow space for incidentals to be tucked away. The glass front created a feature of the collection and an area was designated for a cocktail bar to allow for a true entertainment vibe.
The result is a high glamour celebration of a collecting passion.
